Lucire Consolidates Its Lead Over Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, WWD And Regional Titles
Lucire’s ranking rises to 33,620, says independent tracking service Alexa Internet—substantially ahead of Elle

Wellington, June 12 (JY Media) New Zealand fashion site Lucire http://lucire.com has consolidated its lead over online editions of Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan and WWD, according to June 4 rankings
released by Alexa Internet, an independent tracking service on the web.
Lucire is ranked at 33,620, increasing its lead over the home page rankings of major international titles as well as
regional competitors such as Vogue Australia (288,780) and Elle Australia (408,858, currently undergoing a redesign).
‘I believe it’s fair to call Lucire one of New Zealand’s power brands in fashion publishing,’ said publisher Jack Yan,
the New Zealander who started Lucire in 1997. ‘Of the sites we follow, Lucire is the only Australasian title in the top
100,000.’
American editions of Elle and Vogue remain at the top of the league, at 6,078 and 3,516 respectively. Both benefit from
promotion in their print editions. Lucire’s nearest competitor, Paris-based Fashion Live, is ranked at 40,371. New
York-based Hint remained statistically steady at 46,613.
Mr Yan said, ‘Lucire, Fashion Live and Hint occupy similar ground ranking-wise. We are changing the way people get
their fashion information.
It’s an honour to share the same field with a European and an American title, as well as Elle Taiwan.’
Headquartered in Wellington, Lucire has its principal bases in New Zealand, the United States, Great Britain and
Australia. It is edited by Simone Knol, a New Zealand expatriate based in London. Contributors include New Zealand
journalists Carolyn Enting and Lucy Corry. It was New Zealand’s first commercial fashion site.
Lucire showed a consistent rise in ranking since last December at Alexa. Most other entrants in the fashion publishing
market analysed by JY Media, the company behind Lucire, showed falls.
Portals, or collectives of titles, such as Ninemsn, were generally not included.
Alexa shows a six-month average for sites. The figures were obtained by visiting individual home pages using an
Alexa-equipped browser.
