Vodafone Warriors Secure Coach Until 2004
Auckland, New Zealand, 17 April, 2001 – The Vodafone Warriors today announced the club has extended Coach Daniel Anderson’s contract, securing him until September 30, 2004.
General Manager Mick Watson says, “This consolidates the Vodafone Warriors’ platform for building the club for the future. At the outset we said we were intent on building a franchise that would last. The results over the first nine weeks of the competition have put us on the right track and are a clear demonstration of Daniel Anderson’s ability to mould a team capable of being a competitive force in the NRL.”
“We have always said this year would be a developmental one. By securing Daniel’s services for an additional two years we will ensure the Vodafone Warriors will command the respect of other teams wherever, and whenever, they play us. On behalf of the owners, players and the fans, I have to express my delight that we’ve arrived at this agreement.”
Daniel Anderson is looking forward to working out the terms of his new contract. “The Vodafone Warriors have given me a great opportunity to coach in the NRL – the toughest league competition in the world. I’m grateful for the support I’ve had from all quarters and very pleased we’ve been able to put together some results that begin to justify the faith people have shown.”
“The skill base of this club is astonishing and I’m glad we’re able to form a unit allowing the players to express themselves on the field and to deliver competitive performances the fans are beginning to enjoy. I’m looking forward to the next three and a half years.”
