Media Statement By Destiny Church
TVNZ’s intention to axe Destiny Television as part of the infomercial, evangalical ‘clean up’ on TV One and Two “Is
arrogant and ill-advised” said Pastor Brian Tamaki of Destiny Television.
He went on to say that “It would appear that there is a huge misunderstanding about what ‘Informative Television’is.
For a start Destiny Television should never have been ‘dumped’ in with informercials and Telemarketers and to say that
it is inconsistent with the ‘Spirit’ of the Charter is absolute rubbish. Destiny Television is the only New Zealand
made, self-funded, non profit programme that actually addresses the issues of drug, alcohol, child and sex abuse, along
with teen suicide, marriage, anger, attitudinal development and the fatherless generation. We have always given
positive, practical and well tested answers and solutions to these re occurring problems in our nation”. Said Brian
Tamaki
He also said “It concerns me to see the constant diet of sexual perversion, violence and dysfunction constantly spewed
into our lounges by our own State Owned Television. This is fuelling the very ‘Fire’ that government and society bewail
the next moment on the same television. There is an obvious ‘discrimination’ in the decision makers in television.
We have had huge feed back in the 12 months of our programme, thousands been inspired by the answers and hope they have
been given. Imagine the response if TVNZ gave us a decent time.
It saddens me to see ‘main’ stream NZ have this rejection syndrome to anything right and functional. The reactions I get
to words like Christian, Jesus and Church is frightening.
I take issue with a government and nation that is sliding into the mud of sexual perversion arrogance and
permissiveness.
How can God defend New Zealand when His people reject Him. We may have to change the anthem”.
