Bell Gully presents
COMPOSER FOCUS
Three great composers in the Wellington Town Hall!
The NZSO will host 'Composer Focus' - three Friday concerts in the Wellington Town Hall, specialising in the music of Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Verdi. Respectively. These are scheduled for April, July and October.
On 27 April, Australian conductor/violinist Nicholas Milton, winner of Symphony Australia's Conductor of the Year Award 2001, will present Mozart favourites, including the famous Symphony No 40 and the much-loved Clarinet Concerto with NZSO clarinettist Patrick Barry as soloist.
Nicholas Braithwaite, a frequent guest conductor here, returns on 20 July, with three Tchaikovsky favourites, among them the Swan Lake Suite, and the big First Piano Concerto with soloist Tamara Cislowska, who made an big impression here during the 90s.
The third concert, on 12 October, will see the NZSO, like many leading orchestras worldwide, commemorating the 100th anniversary of Verdi's death with his great, operatic Requiem. This will feature NZSO Principal Guest Conductor, Matthias Bamert and premier New Zealand's singers, Dame Malvina Major, Patrick Power and Rodney Macann.
These three concerts are sponsored by Bell Gully and are being sold as a subscription or by single ticket sales.
