Judy Bailey Returns To Work

Published: Thu 22 Mar 2001 04:24 PM
Judy Bailey resumes her position as co-host of the 6pm weeknight ONE NEWS bulletin on Monday 27 March 2001 after a three-month absence due to illness.
Bailey has been suffering from glandular fever and apart from one night, has not read ONE NEWS with co-host Richard Long since 22 December 2000.
Alison Mau, who has filled in for Bailey, reads her last bulletin on Friday 23 March 2001 before going on maternity leave. Her second child is due early next month.
TVNZ's Managing Editor of News & Current Affairs, Paul Cutler, said Bailey had been advised by doctors that rest was the best form of recuperation and TV ONE had encouraged her to take as long as possible before returning to work.
"We are lucky to have such a strong stable of presenters and Ali has done a superb job filling in for someone of Judy's calibre," he comments.
Bailey is looking forward to being back at work after such a long break.
"I'm enormously grateful to the large number of people who have sent me their good wishes," she says.
