SEASON PASS SKI OFFERS HEAT UP
- North and South Island ski areas combine in SeasonPass deal -
Mt Ruapehu and Cardrona Alpine Resort have combined to offer a NZ first for kiwi skiers with a $349 season pass providing unlimited access to three North and South Island ski fields.
The Season Pass will enable skiers to enjoy three ski areas on two islands – Whakapapa, Turoa and Cardrona.
Ruapehu Alpine Lifts Ltd (RAL), operators of Whakapapa and Turoa Ski Areas, and Cardrona Alpine Resort in Wanaka today announced the “Ultimate NZ Snow Pass” for the 2001 winter season. RAL General Manager Dave Mazey believes the Pass offers the keen skier or boarder the best of both worlds.
“We’ve had reciprocal Season Pass arrangements with Cardrona for a number of years but the Ultimate NZ Snow Pass takes this a giant step further. ”
Around 20,000 North Island skiers and boarders visited the South Island last season. Shaun Gilbertson, Operations Manager of Cardrona, says the “Ultimate NZ Snow Pass” offers enormous value for those people.
“This pass will be very attractive for the majority of our North Island customers who come south for a week of skiing and boarding. Likewise, a number of our South Island customers head north to enjoy spring on Mt Ruapehu and this offer will be great for them as well.”
RAL’s Mt Ruapehu Season Pass will go on sale from 1 April at $249 for adults. For an additional $100 purchasers will also have unlimited access to Cardrona plus receive a $20 discount off adult Day Passes at Treble Cone, Mt Dobson, Porter Heights and Rainbow Ski Areas.
Cardrona is already selling this year’s Season Pass at $295 for adults, which also offers a similar $20 discount off day passes at the same partner ski areas.
“There can be no doubt that the New Zealand ski market is extremely competitive at a national level and customers will be the beneficiaries. This certainly backs up the many submissions received by the Commerce Commission during last year, prior to RAL’s purchase of Turoa, that skiing and snowboarding in New Zealand is one market,” says Dave Mazey.
RAL will commence sales of the “Ultimate NZ Snow Pass” from 1 April when purchases can be made on the new RAL website www.MtRuapehu.com or by phoning 0508 Ruapehu (782 734).
