United Soccer 1 has launched a range of information services for members - a significant development in its objective to
grow the game.
The Federation, one of seven set up nationwide by Soccer New Zealand, covers all club and representative teams in the
Far North, Northland, Harbour/Rodney and Waitakere. Members in these areas can now access the new services, comprising a
0900 line and a website.
These tools will provide all members including players, coaches and referees, with access to the latest news, results,
fixtures, league tables and other associated material.
United Soccer 1 has secured the phone number 0900 SOCCER (0900 768 897) as part of this information service. Sponsorship
from Telecom has allowed call costs to be reduced to 49c per minute. The line will be fully operational in April for the
start of the 2001 season.
Each team will be given a PIN number allowing them access to details regarding results, grounds, cancellations and other
much-needed information relevant to their respective team.
The Federation's website, www.unitedsoccer1.org.nz, will also keep members informed. Through the site, members can
access the regular Federation newsletters, a message board, details on upcoming events such as player and coaching
clinics, and a range of information from the 0900 line.
United Soccer 1 Director, Graeme Perigo, says the new communication initiatives have been designed to ensure information
is readily available via several channels.
"With these tools in place anyone associated with the Federation can keep up to date with league developments, upcoming
competitions, events and other activities.
We see the development of the website and the 0900 number as crucial in moving soccer forward. The introduction of these
services will ensure soccer is properly integrated across all levels and will assist us with our primary goal of growing
the game."
