The popular television series, Money Doctor, will return to New Zealand screens next year, thanks to funding assistance
from NZ On Air.
NZ On Air Chief Executive, Jo Tyndall, said that NZ On Air funding contributed to the success of the first series, and
that the new series was now firmly positioned to achieve further success and popular appeal.
“Money Doctor has proven itself to be a blue chip investment for NZ On Air, TV One and the people of New Zealand,” said
Ms Tyndall.
“Almost all of us worry about money. This programme provides practical information that is relevant to anyone wanting to
know how to make the most of his or her finances,“ she said.
Ms Tyndall said that Money Doctor’s success in its first year, meant that for the 2001 series, NZ On Air’s contribution
would be reduced. This is in line with NZ On Air’s policy to help up programmes that might be commercially viable until
they can stand on their own.
Money Doctor will continue to deliver useful information with some new angles. There will be more in-depth budgeting
advice with individual case studies to portray a variety of situations, so that every viewer can relate to a situation
personal to him or herself.
In addition to budget advice, topics such as superannuation, online banking, personal income tax, investment,
beneficiary entitlements and the cost of divorce, will be covered.
NZ On Air has allocated $333,212 to Touchdown Productions to produce 13 half hour programmes of Money Doctor.
Money Doctor is expected to screen mid next year, on TV One.
