Fun and Sex in the City
A racy new television drama series, set in a red light district, has been given the green light for funding from NZ On Air.
“The Strip is an amusing, entertaining drama about a woman who abandons her safe and structured world for an unusual lifestyle as the owner of a strip club,” said NZ On Air Chief Executive, Jo Tyndall.
“NZ On Air is keen to encourage locally made drama at all ends of the scale. The Strip will be a lively addition to the range of television drama currently being produced, particularly because the strong lead character will enhance its appeal to women,“ she said.
The strip club setting, with the show’s off-beat humour, coupled with a diverse cast of characters, should make the programme next year’s most talked about New Zealand television drama series.
NZ On Air has allocated $4,000,000 to Gibson Group to produce the first 13 episodes of a 22 episode series of The Strip.
The series will be screened in prime time on TV3, late next year.
