Published: Thu 26 Oct 2000 12:58 AM
Let the smell of the sea, the lure of adventure and the promise of fun drag you and the kids away from the Playstation!
Huia Publishers are proud to be launching a new children’s picture book that combines contemporary childhood experience with Mäori mythology. Timo and the Kingfish/Timo te Kaihï Ika by Mokena Reedy is a richly illustrated story of a young boy’s adventure at sea. This book is published in both English and Mäori.
To celebrate the release of Timo and the Kingfish/Timo te Kaihï Ika Huia are launching the book in sea spray style at the Island Bay Marine Education Centre. This will be free family fun with the launch of the book, Huia’s own fabulous storyteller Princess Pania, a treasure hunt and food!
Princess Pania, storyteller supreme, will captivate children in her sparkly pink cloak with sequins and boa feathers. Forget timid princesses of the past! Princess Pania is bold and beautiful, strong and sporty, she’s fun with a capital “F”.
Prizes will be given for children who wear a sea creature mask, pull out all your craft gear and get going!
