Graham "Not Available" to Coach Warriors
Discussions Continue over Development Role Auckland, New Zealand - 21 October 2000 - The New Zealand Warriors announced that Mark Graham has today indicated that he would not be available to coach the club next season.
However the club remains in discussion with the former coach and Kiwi legend over an ongoing role as part of its player development programme.
Eric Watson, Executive Chairman of Cullen Investments, majority owners of the New Zealand Warriors, expressed disappointment that Graham had decided that he did not wish to be considered for the coaching position.
"Mark has immense mana and has, throughout his career, made a massive contribution to the game of rugby league. He has also taken on a challenging role in what was an extremely difficult period for the club. We respect his decision and want to work with him to find ways in which he can continue to be a significant part of the future of the club and the game.
Watson said the club remains on track to announce a new head coach on Tuesday. Following that announcement the new coach will take over responsibility for future player contract negotiations and signings.
The club has now agreed terms with ten players, representing a mix of top and emerging talent.
