Hey all... sorry to say... we have a postponement for the sola rosa performance at The Matterhorn... he is now playing live on Saturday 12th August... attached is a beaut photo... let me know if you are going to use it... also a breif bio below. sola rosa Biography
sola rosa is the studio based music project of long time Auckland musician Andrew Spraggon, exploring new directions in downbeat electonica.
Since its inception in 1998 sola rosa has released two ep's independently, both receiving excellent response on radio and in the media. The starter for 4 ep was recorded over 6 months with assistance from engineer Dale Cotton (HDU)
The second ep entitled entrance to skyway was recorded over an eight month period, and again with 3 of the 5 tracks being engineered by Dale Cotton in its final stages. The ep was released late March 2000 with the track 'Hi Five' receiving immediate heavy rotate on George FM as well as b-Net stations nationwide, entering high on the top ten in Auckland, Palmerston Nth, Christchurch, Wellington and Dunedin.
sola rosa has released tracks on a number of compilations including:
1. Lava Magazine.................Vol3 new media from NZ 2. Kog Transmissions............Sampler cd, genetic engineering and your food 3. PC World Magazine..........MP3 Audio cd-rom
Currently Andrew is working on tracks to be released on compilations by 'Different Drummer' (UK) and 'Froth' (NZ) The debut album is also under way and expected to be released early 2001.
sola rosa has performed live on a number of occasions, including The Gathering and Splore. So far the sola rosa live performance is a one man show, with Andrew mixing and dubbing tracks using keyboards, sampler and effects. Eventually the intention is to introduce more live instruments in to the show, including percussion, drums and bass.
