Fendalton Library-Service Centre To Celebrate

FENDALTON LIBRARY-SERVICE CENTRE TO CELEBRATE
Christchurch's Deputy Mayor, Lesley Keast, will open Christchurch City Council: Fendalton, incorporating the library and service centre, on Monday 3 July. The public opening ceremony will start at 9am, followed by a programme of events throughout the week. "The programme includes a wide variety from a skateboarding workshop to a local history walk and talk," said Sasha Bowers, Promotions and Publications Co-ordinator for the library. "There are also some great opportunities to try new skills including cartooning, juggling and using the library's computers."
Highlights will include:
* Canterbury Cats hockey players Nicki Grimwood and Raijieli Walker telling bedtime stories on Thursday 6 July 6.30 - 7pm. * Making the most of a small garden with Dennis Greville, writer and photographer for many gardening magazines, on Monday 3 July 2 - 3pm.
* Music with Jazz duo Pangolin at the opening ceremony, and the Praesto Quartet on Saturday 8 July 10 - 11am.
* Stories with Liz Weir, formerly known as Library Liz, on Monday 3 July 6.30 - 7pm, Thursday 6 July 10.30 - 11.15am and Saturday 8 July 11am - 12pm. Programmes are available from all libraries and service centres. Bookings are required for some events - please phone 351 7547. All are welcome to attend the opening ceremony, followed by morning tea and a chance to meet community board members. Opening hours for Christchurch City Council: Fendalton are:
* Monday - Friday: 9am - 8pm * Saturday: 10 am - 1pm
