Melanie Lynskey ("Ever After") & Boyd Kestner ("The General's Daughter") Shoot "Snakeskin" In New Zealand
BOYD KESTNER ("The General's Daughter") and MELANIE LYNSKEY, ("Ever After") have been cast in the New Zealand
production "SNAKESKIN", due to start filming in Methven, New Zealand on 1st April.
"When an American snake slides into town, this little stretch of New Zealand road is in for the ride of its life", is
the premise for the COWGIRL PRODUCTIONS' feature, which also stars DEAN O'GORMAN (Iolaus in "Young Hercules").
It is the first local film for Lynskey since Peter Jackson's "The Frighteners", with Michael J. Fox, which followed her
highly successful role opposite Kate Winslet in Jackson's Academy Award-nominated "Heavenly Creatures". "This is
probably the best script I've read since "Heavenly Creatures", says Lynskey - and a more provocative role. Hot US actor
Boyd Kestner recently starred with John Travolta in "The General's Daughter" and opposite Demi Moore in Ridley Scott's
"G.I. Jane". "It's an honour to be working in New Zealand," he says. "I can't believe I'm being paid to come here - it's
such an amazing place to visit."
Written and directed by GILLIAN ASHURST, whose short film "Venus Blue" achieved outstanding success attending last
year's prestigious Sundance Film Festival, the debut feature from COWGIRL PRODUCTIONS, is produced by VANESSA SHELDRICK
(Associate Producer of "Venus Blue"). Executive Producers are CHRIS BROWN ("Scarfies", "Stickmen"); TRISHIA DOWNIE (Line
Producer, "Scarfies") and the New Zealand Film Commission's KATHERINE BUTLER ("Stickmen"). "SNAKESKIN" is the fifth film
in the ScreenVisioNZ scheme - the other films in that slate include "Scarfies"; "Via Satellite"; "Savage Honeymoon" and
"Stickmen", currently in post-production. It is funded by the NZFC in association with NZ on Air; TVNZ and Portman
Entertainment in the UK.
