Concept:
Contempt for Cars explores the many ways in which Wellington's urban environment is dominated by cars.
The live performance will bombard the audience with the close-up sights, sounds, and smells of an inner city traffic jam, to start an intense journey through the congested streets, the dominating architecture of the city, and the restricted world of the pedestrian. Multiple slide projections, live music, sound samples from city streets, and various special effects will bring the world of the inner city to life for this 40 minute performance.
We have worked very hard to make this a stimulating and exciting presentation, which we hope will provide inspiration for anyone who is frustrated by the overwhelming bias of our cities towards cars, and is interested in carfree cities and alternative forms of transport.
