A JOB TO DIE FOR
A new documentary series - A Job To Die For, featuring ordinary New Zealanders working at jobs they love, is being produced thanks to funding from NZ On Air.
Jo Tyndall, NZ On Air Chief Executive, said the series would be inspirational for young job seekers. It will show that, with initiative and determination, anyone can land a fantastic job.
"A Job To Die For shows that there are great jobs out there and they're being done by people who have a passion and are following their dreams.
"The series aims to open the eyes of the audience to the endless possibilities of a wide range of occupations," said Ms Tyndall.
"Some people have jobs that don't seem like jobs at all, such as Craig Armstrong who makes a living as a chocolate taster. Other people are lucky enough to find or create jobs where they get paid to follow their hobby."
Ms Tyndall said that the production company, Top Shelf, is intent on providing audiences with informative, as well as entertaining, viewing.
"For example, they plan to film Steve Williams, Tiger Woods' caddy. They want to cover not only what his job entails, but also what motivated Steve to achieve, to rise above the level of no- hoper, a label placed on him by a past teacher."
NZ On Air has allocated $396,462 to Top Shelf Productions to produce 13 half-hour programmes. The series will screen in primetime on TV2 later this year.
