SURVIVOR FROM THE DIANA-DODI CRASH TELLS ALL
On March 13th 2000, Penguin Books NZ will release The Bodyguard's Story -Diana, the Crash and the Sole Survivor.
For the first time, Trevor Rees-Jones - the bodyguard - tells his gripping account of the events leading up to an
extraordinary accident, and how an ordinary man found himself fighting for his life and reputation.
The death of the Princess of Wales and Dodi Fayed changed everything. He was singled out as the man who survived a fatal
car crash with consequences which reverberate to this day.
Now, Trevor tells the truth as best he knows it, with contributions from his mother, Jill, and Ernie his step-father,
and his mate and fellow-bodyguard, Kez Wingfield.
Trevor had a crucial role to play leading up to that fateful night in Paris. He describes how, as Dodi's bodyguard, his
job on board the family yacht in the South of France was made harder as Dodi's unpredictability combined with the
Princess's celebrity turned their onshore expeditions into a potential nightmare.
Trevor's recollections of that evening stop at the moment the car pulled away from the hotel. But he recalls clearly how
Dodi overruled the bodyguards' advice for escaping the Ritz. Only by standing his ground did Trevor persuade Dodi that
he must accompany them home.
And the next morning the world woke up to the death of Diana, Princess of Wales.
Trevor's story has been told to award-winning writer Moira Johnston.
The Bodyguard's Story will be available from booksellers nationwide at $29.95 while stocks last.
