E"Xtra" Massive Boost For Tourism Operators

Jasons Travel Media has just signed a deal with leading Kiwi Internet service provider Telecom Xtra that reinforces Jasons Travel Channels' position as the number one source of information for domestic and international travellers to New Zealand and the South Pacific.
The strategic alliance sees extensive content from Jasons publications available directly through the Xtra portal. It also makes available all of the content of Jasons South Pacific Islands Travel Channel at the click of a button.
Jasons Managing Director John Sandford says the strategic alliance is a "coup" for his company, which won this year's best communicator category at the NZ Tourism Board travel awards.
Jasons Travel Channels have more than 25,000 tourism-related businesses from Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific online. Mr Sandford says the site provides a cost-effective solution for small to medium sized tourism businesses that have no other way of achieving a worldwide presence.
For larger companies, Jasons Travel Channels offer effective Internet distribution solutions.
The company has 40 publications with a combined circulation in excess of 2.5 million copies annually.
Jason Travel Channels had more than 140,000 user sessions during October alone, when they recorded almost seven million hits.
The top five active countries are New Zealand, United States, Australia, Germany, and France.
Xtra is the largest portal Internet site in New Zealand, receiving nearly 28 million page views per month from just over 5.6 million user sessions per month.
Jason Travel Channels are receiving nearly 2.5 million page views per month.
"In the world of the Internet, cut-through is critical," Mr Sandford says, "and to get cut-through size matters."
Xtra is the latest addition to Jasons Global Distribution Network, which already includes alliances with BedandBreakfast.com in the United States, Microsoft world-wide and 131shop.com.au in Australia.
Where our previous alliances have helped grow international traffic to Jasons Travel Channels this alliance will add significant local traffic."
Ironically, small to medium size tourism businesses choosing to use Jasons Travel Channels as their means of global marketing don't have to have any high tech equipment of their own.
"They don't even need email, or an Internet connection, but obviously their opportunities will be greatly increased if they do," Mr Sandford said.
Jason Travel Channels information can be accessed through www.jasons.co.nz or on .Xtra's under travel on www.xtra.co.nz.
