Bankgesellschaft Berlin Secures It's Os/390 Enterprise-Class Domino Server From Virus Attacks With Trend Micro's Scanmail(R) For Lotus Notes Lotusphere Berlin Conference: Hall –
Trend Micro (Nasdaq: TMIC), a leading provider of Internet virus protection and the only antivirus vendor with Lotus Premium Partner status, has announced that Bankgesellschaft Berlin has selected Trend Micro's award-winning ScanMail for Lotus Notes to secure its OS/390 Enterprise class Domino Server from attack by viruses and other malicious code. Bankgesellschaft Berlin, a major, competitive, independent bank with almost 17,500 employees and total assets of more than DM 360 billion, is one of the top ten banks in Germany.
The Bank conducted a comprehensive test and evaluation programme in 1998, in which virus detection rates, central management capabilities and support issues were all carefully considered. A key additional requirement was that the solution operates across heterogeneous platforms to keep viruses out of the Bank's Lotus Notes environment. Trend Micro's ScanMail for Lotus Notes was the only product on the market that fulfilled all Bankgesellschaft Berlin's criteria.
Klaus Wirries, project manager for migration of Lotus Notes on IBM S/390 at Bankgesellschaft Berlin said, "Groupware computing enhances an organisation's ability to communicate through email and messaging. Having Trend Micro's ScanMail means that we can be confident that our Notes environment is protected from becoming a breeding ground for viruses and other malicious code."
"We are pleased to be working closely with Bankgesellschaft Berlin to help secure their OS/390 Enterprise-Class Domino Server against attack by viruses and malicious code with ScanMail," said Dennis Tsou, senior vice president of Trend Micro. "Viruses and other malicious code represent the single most common form of security breach in enterprise computing environments and the dangers posed to the health of information infrastructures has never been greater. The close co-operation between our two organisations enables Trend Micro to provide the Bank with the very best protection and support."
Bankgesellschaft Berlin now has a very successful 400-user pilot in place and expects to have 2,500 users on Lotus Domino for S/390 by next year. The Bank is finding ScanMail highly effective in keeping computer viruses out of Lotus Notes. It is pleased with the reliability of the solution and believes that it is promoting client and employee confidence while eliminating the possibility of expensive virus outbreaks.
Bankgesellschaft Berlin has its head office in the up-and-coming city of Berlin. It is making a contribution to re-shaping Berlin as a regional financial centre, and its great financial strength enables it to play an important role both in the German capital itself and in a Europe that is growing together economically all the time.
