CALTEX - CAR WASH CASE
Caltex is extremely disappointed with the findings of the Court in this matter. We have consistently maintained that we have done nothing to violate either the letter or spirit of the law.
Caltex has been a law abiding, good corporate citizen in New Zealand for nearly eighty years and will continue to be so. We have compliance programmes in place designed to ensure that all employees know, understand, and adhere to the relevant regulations contained within New Zealand commercial law.
Caltex competes vigorously in one of the most difficult of mature markets. We not only have to comply with New Zealand's commercial law but we must clearly be seen to do so.
Caltex is considering its options in light of the Court's decision; once it has finished its review of that decision it will decide whether it considers an appeal to be in order.
