Deputy Governor Of The Reserve Bank To Hold Live Q Session On Sharechat.
Dr Roderick Carr, Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand, will be hosting a live Internet discussion on ShareChat (http://www.sharechat.co.nz/ ) on "Y2K and the New Zealand Banking System." The discussion will take place this Tuesday, October 5th at 4:00pm.
This is a chance for anyone in the world with a Web connection to log on to the live irc channel (http://www.sharechat.co.nz/live.html), and ask Dr Carr questions about Y2K and the preparedness of the Reserve Bank and the New Zealand banking industry. Issues up for discussion include payment systems, liquidity in the capital markets and meeting the public demand for cash.
There have been questions about the stability of the banking system and its ability to withstand systemic malfunctions on January 1. Dr Carr will be able to shed light on initiatives taken to avoid potential breakdowns in the financial system.
ShareChat is an Internet portal and discussion group for market investors. One component of the ShareChat Website is the live irc channel. After logging on, users can chat in "real time" to one another.
