Trade Me, New Zealand's leading online auction site (www.trademe.co.nz), today announced the sale of the computers and
computer peripherals used during last weeks APEC conference - by live Internet Auction. The equipment is being sold on
behalf of PC Rentals, who provided the majority of the computing equipment supplied to APEC. The auctions provide Trade
Me users with the ability to buy near new computing equipment for well below retail.
"The equipment we are selling is only about a month old and is still under warranty. In the case of the PC's we are
selling, they are only just beginning their 3 year warranty", managing director Sam Morgan said. "The machines are all
identical, making them attractive to corporate buyers."
"This promotion demonstrates how Trade Me enables businesses to sell surplus inventory, ex-demo stock, or new goods by
Internet Auction - with considerably lower cost of sale than the other options available to merchants." Morgan said.
"The massive success of Internet Auctions in the United States has provided us with an insight into the future of
Internet retail."
The Trade Me APEC auctions will be hosted on the Trade Me web site (www.trademe.co.nz) using Trade Me's custom developed
Merchant software, which allows merchants to conduct business-to-consumer or secure business-to-business auctions.
The APEC computer auctions will run from Monday 20th September, through to midday Friday 24th September. Registration on
Trade Me is free.
Trade Me can be found at http://www.trademe.co.nz. Trade Me was founded in March 1999 and is New Zealand's largest
online auction provider.
