Malcolm Bailey To Meet Barshefsky

BAILEY TO MEET BARSHEFSKY
United States Trade Representative Charlene Barshefsky has agreed to meet with Federated Farmers President Malcolm Bailey to discuss the lamb trade dispute.
Mr Bailey said that Federated Farmers is very pleased to have the opportunity to make direct representations to Ambassador Barshefsky.
"This is a critical issue for New Zealand farmers and we are very grateful for the opportunity to make our views known to the highest levels of the US Administration."
"I hope Ambassador Barshefsky will use the opportunity of her visit to New Zealand to visit a sheep farm and see efficient, unsubsidised lamb production."
Mr Bailey will be give Ambassador Barshefsky a letter from the farmers of New Zealand expressing their views on potential US lamb trade restrictions.
The meeting will take place at the Stamford Plaza Hotel in Auckland at 12.30pm this coming Monday, 28 June 1999.
