Dairy Farmers of New Zealand chose a new chairman today at its Annual Conference in Wellington. Charlie Pedersen of
Foxton was elected to replace retiring chairman Mark Masters.
Mr Pedersen had been a vice-chairman of the Federated Farmers industry group for the past two years and had represented
Manawatu/Rangitikei Province for the six years prior to that.
Mr Pedersen said that he was proud to have been chosen to lead the Dairy Farmers of New Zealand during a time when the
industry was undergoing great change.
"There are real challenges ahead for dairy farmers. DFNZ has a large role to play, ensuring that dairy farmers and
sharemilkers are well informed and that they retain the final say on industry matters."
"Dairy farmers must have a strong voice on industry matters and DFNZ is the logical body to provide that voice."
"I would like to thank the DFNZ delegates for their support, and I must acknowledge retiring Chairman Mark Masters' huge
contribution to the dairy industry and DFNZ."
