Carbon Reduction Brought to Life
EMANZ and The Sustainability Society today announced a second Keynote speaker for their joint conference on practical
actions on how companies can reduce emissions.
Joining Canadian sustainability expert Bob Willard as a Keynote is Australian James Hunt.
Willard and Hunt bring diverse, international expertise to the conference in the areas of sustainability and energy
systems solutions, respectively.
The event will be compered by long-standing sustainability advocate Te Radar[1].
“This conference isn’t about why we need to reduce emissions, we’re way beyond that. This is about the ‘how to’ with an
outstanding line up of speakers focusing on the practicalities of emissions reduction,” said EMANZ CEO, Dr Mike Hopkins.
“Most people seem on board with the need to address carbon emissions now. We’re soon to have a Climate Change Commission
and many organisations are saying the right things.
The need now is to move beyond saying the right things to doing something positive about it.
What New Zealand businesses really need now is practical insight. This is where this conference, and indeed EMANZ
members, come in."
The two day conference is being jointly run by EMANZ and The Sustainability Society and includes sessions on:
decarbonisation, fuels, the built environment, the circular economy, industrial emissions, the Living Building
Challenge, collaboration, continuous improvement, water efficiency, waste minimisation and future electricity systems.
“If you’re interested in a sustainable future, you’re interested in this conference”, stated Hopkins.
The conference is running in Wellington on 29 and 30 May at The Harbourside Function Centre. The full speaker line-up
and registration links can be found through the EMANZ website, https://www.emanz.org.nz/emanz-conference-2019.
