The Minister of Agriculture, Biosecurity, Food Safety, and Rural Communities Damien O'Connor will join Fonterra Director Brent Goldsack as keynote speakers at the annual Northland Dairy Development Trust Conference on Wednesday 3 April at Northland Events Centre.
This will be the first time a Minister of Agriculture has addressed farmers at the annual event, which Northland Dairy Development Trust Chairman Terence Brocx says demonstrates the Ministers commitment to Northland.
"This is an opportunity for Northland farmers to hear first hand what this Government's vision is for a number of issues affecting our industry."
Both Goldsack and O'Connor, who is also the Minister of State for Trade and Export Growth will take questions from the audience. The Trust encourages farmers to come along and make the most of this fantastic opportunity to speak to these key figures in the industry.
The agenda also includes updates on trials from the Northland Agricultural Research Farm in Dargaville, the latest fertility research data from DairyNZ, farmer feedback from the 350 Project based here in Northland and environmental factors affecting the industry from the Northland Regional Council Land Management team.
The Trust hopes to have a record turnout this year with the full agenda offering plenty of vital information to help farmers progress in their businesses. All farmers are welcome to attend this free event, with registration open from 9.45am, ready for a 10am start. Lunch will be provided, and the conference should conclude by 2pm.
