New Board Chair for Survey and Spatial New Zealand Welcomed
At the AGM in November Daniel Williams was welcomed as the new chair of Survey and Spatial NZ’s Board following 5 years
as board member. He has been participating in the board since its establishment in 2013 and takes over from long-term
Chair, Andrew Stirling.
Daniel brings a wealth of experience in the survey and spatial sector gained over 25 years as a surveyor with
involvement in a broad range of projects including master planned communities, large infrastructure builds and
commercial developments throughout New Zealand and the Pacific Islands. He has a proven track record of delivering
projects of varying complexity and is often sought to fulfil the role of project leader. During his time at Woods he has
implemented technological changes that have included laser scanning and geospatial data, the increasing use of 3D
software for visualisation, and the addition of urban design and architecture team to integrate land and building
development as our built environments are becoming ever more complex.
For the past 15 years Daniel has been the Managing Director of Woods where under his watch, he enjoyed the honour of the
company being judged as one of New Zealand and Australia’s best employers in the 2017 and 2018 Aon Hewitt Best Employer
accreditation process.
