Vodafone honoured by win at Equal Pay Awards

Vodafone is honoured to have won in tonight’s 2018 YWCA Equal Pay awards held in Auckland, after implementing initiatives to address equal pay in New Zealand.

The event drew industry leaders from around the country to celebrate individuals, teams and companies for their outstanding achievements in this important area over the past year.

Vodafone won in the ‘Leadership’ category, which celebrates companies who understand the benefits of workplace gender equality and are leading the way for others to follow.

Vodafone was also named the supreme winner at the YWCA Equal Pay Awards.

Vodafone Human Resources Director, Antony Welton, said the company was delighted by the win.

“Our team is beyond ecstatic to receive this award as acknowledgment of our leadership in equal pay. This award is a testament to how our Equal Pay initiatives have been championed by leadership and embedded into our culture and the way we work across the business,” Antony said.

Vodafone’s Head of HR Centres of Expertise Katie Williams said that the mission to create a more gender inclusive workplace and to champion equal pay is vital in New Zealand.

“Making sure that everyone is paid the same for their job when compared against jobs of a similar nature is one thing, but it’s not just about the principles and having a strategy – it’s about having the conviction all the way through the organisation and the passion to bring those policies to life.

“Vodafone believes gender balance and pay that is free from discrimination are the foundations of equal pay for women, and will help us realise our ambition to be the best employer of women by 2025,” Katie said.
