Leading shipping container company expands into South Canterbury
Royal Wolf, the largest provider of shipping containers in Australasia, has established an office in Timaru to meet
growing demand for container solutions in the region.
The company specialise in the hire, sale and modification of new and refurbished shipping containers, and portable
container buildings such as kiosks, kitchens, worker’s lunch rooms, and public safety walkways for construction sites.
The expansion into South Canterbury came about through Royal Wolf’s recent acquisition of leading container company
Spacewise and the increased need for storage and event containers, and bespoke container products in the area.
Executive General Manager Paul Creighton says the growing awareness around the versatility of containers has been the
impetus for Royal Wolf’s continued expansion in the last two years, including opening new offices in Nelson, Whangarei,
Invercargill, New Plymouth and now, Timaru.
“We used to service Timaru and South Canterbury customers from our Christchurch site, but demand has continued to
increase and having product on the ground and ready to go will mean we can service customers more efficiently and have
the product they need.”
The purchase of Spacewise sees Royal Wolf expand from 12 to 16 locations around the country and adds a substantial
number of units to its existing container fleet.
“Containers have become a part of the landscape in New Zealand and in a growing number of industries, and for many of
our customers, they are the go-to solution because they’re portable, robust and can be adapted to meet a customer’s
unique needs.”
He says businesses are increasingly turning to containers as a solution because they can be modified to suit many
purposes ranging from storage and commercial grade kitchens, through to pedestrian walkways (or hoardings) which are a
patented Royal Wolf product used widely in the construction industry.
“The beauty of Royal Wolf is that it can provide everything from simple and reliable storage solutions through to
modified and bespoke containers ranging from pop up coffee kiosks for events through to toilet facilities and an
architecturally designed office space. We can modify them to whatever a customer wants.”
