Vodafone media statement on severe storm
The following statement on last night’s storm and the Vodafone network can be attributed to Vodafone Head of Technology Operations, Ian Hooker:
Vodafone’s technology team report the network is faring well in the wake of last night’s severe storm.
There are currently a number of sites down throughout the wider Auckland area, however in many cases customers will be receiving service from surrounding sites. Generators are being distributed by technicians to the Mangere Bridge and Onehunga areas, where customers may have seen some degraded cellphone coverage.
The team are hard at work getting all our sites back up and running, and expect to see many come back on line throughout the course of this morning.
Vodafone would like to thank our customers for their patience. Stay safe out there!
