NZCTA YA presents the Entrepreneurship Forum 2018
NZCTA YA aim to kick off 2018 with a bang with their annual flagship event
AUCKLAND, MARCH 19, 2018 - New Zealand China Trade Association Young Associates (NZCTA YA) will be holding their
Entrepreneurship Forum 2018: Starting in NZ, Succeeding Globally. The forum will be on the 7th of April 2018 at the
Bluestone Room.
The forum has four main sections (C.E.E.D). C.E.E.D stands for connect, engage, empower and develop. Each letter
represents a part of the start-up continuum, from idea validation to growing the business. The event will be an
excellent opportunity for students and young professionals to network and acquire practical tips from a panel of
experienced speakers who have launched their businesses globally.
One of the speakers is John Holt, chairman of Kiwi Landing Pad, which helps high growth technology companies launch into
the US market and has over 4000 members in 36 countries. He says “Building a business from the ground up is hard and
doing it early in life even harder. I’m excited to share learnings and ideas with our young entrepreneurs at the NZCTA
event as I truly believe it has never been a more exciting time to be a young entrepreneur!”. NZCTA YA hope to encourage
budding entrepreneurs to start early and enrich them with knowledge and advice from speakers such as John.
Another speaker is John Chow who runs Chow Group, with interests in a variety of sectors from non-bank financing to home
building. He notes “A successful entrepreneur is bold and fearless with a burning desire to succeed. My advice to young
professionals is to be open to opportunities, dare to explore new and challenging territories, and emerge from your
cocoon of comfort zone. You will most likely fail at least once, but never lose sight of the end goal and the
fundamental reason for your venture, trust your gut, rely on your support network, and success will inevitably be
yours.” The forum is designed to equip the younger generation with the necessary tools to build a successful start-up in
the NZ-China space.
Last year’s event had over 100 attendees and this year NZCTA YA aim to attract even more. NZCTA YA director Jessica
Liang notes “We wanted to create an event whereby young professionals could engage meaningfully with experienced
entrepreneurs, and “pick their brain” on their views on the start-up scene in New Zealand and China. Our speakers are
experts in their fields; the best people to equip aspiring young entrepreneurs with the tools to grow their ideas into a
successful business.” NZCTA YA believes the opportunity will provide students and young professionals from different
backgrounds to engage and come out with valuable information, driving incentive for the younger generation to have a go
and explore the entrepreneurial space.
In addition to John Holt and John Chow, other speakers include Iyia Liu (who founded million-dollar global business
Waist Trainer at the age of 21) and Sam Wilson from DLA Piper (who has expertise in advising start-ups). Their depth of
knowledge and wide range of experience will definitely enlighten attendees with valuable insight.
The Forum will be held on Saturday 7th April from 10am-3pm at the Bluestone Room on Durham Lane. Limited early bird
