Entrepreneur calls for business to back cycling infrastructure at product launch
Electrify.nz founder Michael Tritt says retailers need to realise that cycle-friendly infrastructure is actually good
for business.
"Cars don't buy things, people do," says Tritt, who's electric bike brand now operates five retail stores around New
Zealand.
Electrify.nz is launching the Stromer ST1X, regarded as the world's premier urban electric bike, at GridAKL tonight.
Tritt will call on other businesses to back his stance at tonight's event.
An anti-cycling activist and business owner took to a piece of infrastructure with a sledgehammer yesterday, which Tritt
says is "nuts".
"Actually the evidence shows people who cycle tend to to stop and visit shops more often, and spend more money at those
shops over time, than people in cars".
"We can't just keep adding cars onto Auckland's roads, and building more roads to accommodate, them, we need
alternatives and cycling can play a huge role," says Tritt.
