Law Firm Sponsor Deal Cancelled
The cancellation of a major sponsorship deal with law firm Russell McVeagh has left governance group, Women on Boards, without a sponsor for their prestigious “Inspirational Excellence Award,” which is the supreme award at the Women in Governance Awards to be held in Auckland on 10 May this year.
Today, Women on Boards newly elected Chair, Hamilton lawyer Julie Hardaker, announced cancellation of the sponsorship. “Our executive committee decided it was not appropriate for the law firm to continue the arrangement in view of the recent controversy surrounding the law firm,” said Ms Hardaker.
“We are hoping to secure a new sponsor for the Excellence in Governance Award before the conference and awards event on 10 May,” said Ms Hardaker.
Russell McVeagh was a sponsor at last year’s awards.
The Women in Governance Awards are in their third year and nominations for the seven categories are open until 6 April 2018.
Women on Boards is a membership organisation and a business unit of Governance New Zealand, with members representing a broad range of organisations and sectors. Its aim is to achieve equality for women in governance and leadership.
