Kiwi Design Director to Judge ADFEST
12th of March 2018
Strategy Creative Christchurch Design Director Chris Flack flies to Thailand this Saturday to be a judge at ADFEST 18.
Chris Flack, the Design Director of Strategy Creative’s Christchurch studio, has been selected to join an international
panel of leading designers at ADFEST 18.
Flack will join five other world-renowned designers to judge the design and print craft category in the resort town of Pattaya, Thailand next week. He’s the only judge from Australasia.
ADFEST is an annual creative festival for the Asia region which has been running since 1998. More than 1,200 delegates
from some of the world’s biggest agencies attend each year.
“It’s an honour to be joining such a distinguished group of judges,” Flack says.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing and judging the design work of some of Asia’s top designers in what is a very
exciting time for creativity in the region. Asia has quickly become the centre of the economic world, but it’s also
becoming one of the world’s top hubs for creative work, too.”
The design and print craft jury panel is headed by Melvin Mangada who’s highly regarded for raising the flag for
Philippine creativity around the world.
“Melvin and his agency have produced incredible work that’s set new benchmarks for the Asia region. I’m looking forward
to meeting him and the other judges to learn from and share notes with each other.”
Flack’s appointment comes off the back of a very big year for Strategy Creative, which has studios in Christchurch,
Wellington, Auckland, Sydney, and Tokyo.
The Christchurch studio was awarded excellence by Tokyo Type Directors’ Club for its rebranding of Dalman Architects,
and the TEDxChristchurch 2017 identity Flack devised and implemented ensured a highly successful sold-out event.
“Including me on the judging panel is a testament to the great work Strategy continues to produce,” Flack says.
“We may be at the bottom of the globe geographically, but New Zealand is front and centre of some of the world’s best
design.
“There’s a youthful and raw energy in the Asia Pacific design community; rules are being broken and traditional
approaches are being challenged. It’s an incredibly exciting time to be a designer.”
ADFEST runs from Wednesday 21 March to Saturday 24th and includes talks from the likes of Getty Images, Facebook, and
BBDO.
