Published: Fri 2 Mar 2018 11:17 AM
Leading New Zealand telecommunications solutions provider Telesmart has acquired the business formerly known as NEC Business Solutions from Scollay Holdings Ltd for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition strengthens Telesmart’s market-leading telecommunications engineering skills, complementing its existing network, voice and video solutions, delivered from its five centres in New Zealand and Australia.
“This is an exciting purchase for Telesmart because it firmly positions us as New Zealand’s leading sales and service provider of NEC’s world-leading telecommunications systems,” said Telesmart Managing Director Nigel Barker. NEC Business Solutions had been a highly respected New Zealand distributor of NEC products for 23 years. The Japanese conglomerate is a globally ranked top-two provider of telecommunications systems.
Mr Barker said as a result of the acquisition Glenn Van Gorp had been appointed Telesmart’s Head of Engineering, leveraging his enterprise-level experience.
“Significantly, from a New Zealand perspective, it also reunites the unique team of Mark Simons and Mark Panther – renowned for their ability to qualify and deliver market-leading solutions, often to highly specialised requirements,” said Mr Barker.
“The acquisition builds on our ability to offer best-of-breed telecommunications solutions to New Zealand’s most complex organisations. Our team are amongst the country’s most experienced and knowledgeable experts.”
Chris Scollay, owner of Scollay Holdings, said Telesmart’s customer-centric business philosophy displayed all the attributes he had wanted when he decided to sell the business. “I’m delighted because I’m confident they have the right attributes to ensure NEC Business Solutions’ legacy will live on.”
