More of NZ’s neat places showcased

More of NZ’s neat places showcased

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Wednesday 21 February 2018

A curated guide of the cool, quirky and unique eateries, bars and shops around New Zealand is expanding.

Neat Places is the go-to guide for the unique places to eat, drink and shop throughout New Zealand, and has brought its philosophy of championing small local businesses to Whanganui and Wanaka.

The expansion coincides with the launch of Neat Places’ new easier-to-navigate website featuring more in-depth content.

Marcia Butterfield founded Neat Places following the first major Christchurch earthquake in 2010 to highlight all the lifestyle, fashion, food, nightlife, arts and culture spots worth knowing about.

Now, the site and its free app, covers Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin - with the new locations added today.

“The idea was not to review these places, but showcase those who are doing things a little differently, who support other local suppliers and who make our city special and worth visiting,” she says.

“Now as we expand into new cities and towns we are able to showcase even more businesses for even more people - whether they are locals eager to check out their own gems or visitors needing some trusted insight.”

Butterfield says Neat Places has been working with local tourism and economic development organisations to strengthen partnerships with local businesses.

“Having the support on the ground in each region has been great for establishing insight into their own neat places, and help drive more people there. We are looking to partner with more regional organisations in 2018 with the goal of uncovering every neat place across New Zealand.”

The tourism and economic development organisations include Enterprise Dunedin, Hamilton and Waikato Tourism, Lake Wanaka Tourism and Whanganui and Partners.

Lake Wanaka Tourism’s General Manager James Helmore says, “With multiple cafes, award winning restaurants, artisan producers and boutique venues in Wanaka, we have so many neat places worth celebrating.

“Food and culture are a huge part of our community and what we want locals and visitors alike to experience. Neat Places is a beautifully produced informative guide that honestly and authentically shares our Wanaka stories.”

As well as the online and app listings, Neat Places also publishes printed Pocket Guides in Hamilton, Whanganui, Rotorua, Wellington, Christchurch and Wanaka available from cafes, shops and bars, as well via the Neat Places website.
