The Career Academy Wins Big at Business Awards
Auckland-based international online education provider The Career Academy took top honours for Excellence in Strategy & Planning at the Westpac Auckland Business Awards.
This award follows only a week after The Career Academy was honoured as part of the Deloitte Fast 50 index, for the
second year running.
“At The Career Academy, we follow a deliberate strategy of innovation to deliver the kind of courses students want,
training that effectively enhances their career prospects,” says its CEO, Daniel Hunt.

In the Deloitte Fast 50 announced last week, The Career Academy was the sixth fastest growing business nationwide this
year, having achieved year-on-year growth of a massive 678%. In 2016, the business also made the honours list, in 35th
position, with growth of nearly 271%.

a second year, it demonstrates that they achieve strong growth on an ongoing basis. It shows that the business has solid
foundations, the right management structure, and that it’s going places.”

is not a recent player and is achieving this strong growth from a fairly mature base.”
The Deloitte Fast 50 index of New Zealand’s fastest growing businesses has been published annually since 2000.
Westpac Business Awards
At this week’s Westpac Auckland Business Awards, The Career Academy was a finalist in two categories. Apart from
Strategy and Planning, the category it won, The Career Academy was also a finalist for Excellence in Customer Service.
The Westpac Auckland Business Awards are presented jointly by the Auckland Chamber of Commerce and Auckland Council’s
economic growth agency – Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED). Nick Hill, Chief Executive of ATEED,
said the winning businesses play a key role in stimulating Auckland’s culture of innovation and entrepreneurship.

“For this reason, The Career Academy purposely operates as an unregistered private training establishment outside of the
NZQA framework. Being independent and unregistered, as per the provisions of the Education Act, allows us to be nimbler
in our response to market needs of students, yet still provide industry accredited qualifications that students can have
faith in” says Mr Hunt.
“Our success as a business testifies to the effectiveness of this strategy, as does our students’ success in their
chosen careers.”
The Career Academy is one of New Zealand’s largest and most successful education providers sitting outside the NZQA
framework. It has been operating from its base in Auckland for ten years, providing education to second-chance learners
in New Zealand, as well as Australia, the UK and Ireland. The academy specialises in quality online courses in fields
ranging from accounting and management to hospitality and IT.
The Career Academy is an Approved Training Organisation certified by Xero, MYOB, the Association of Administrative
Professionals, the Accountants and Tax Agents Institute of New Zealand, the New Zealand Bookkeepers Association and many
others. Their courses are recognised by industry and employers throughout New Zealand.
Currently, The Career Academy serves the needs of about 18,000 students internationally. The New Zealand operation is
fully focussed on catering to the needs of its 8,000 local students, with no international enrolments.
