Generation Homes wins prestigious House of the Year Award
National top 10 residential builder Generation Homes won bronze in the prestigious 2017 Registered Master Builders House
of the Year Awards.
The highly-regarded annual competition celebrates residential building excellence and innovation in New Zealand’s
construction sector. This year more than 370 homes throughout the country were assessed.
Generation Homes entered its Hamilton-based four bedroom property at 231 Dixon Road, Fitzroy, into the ‘GIB Show Home’
category.
The company was up against five Waikato-based building companies including Landmark Homes, Sentinel Homes, Yeoman Homes,
Jennian Homes and Downey Designer Homes.
Generation Homes Hamilton and Waikato North Regional Director Alana Savage was honoured to achieve bronze in the
Registered Master Builders House of the Year Awards.
“The showhome highlights the high level of quality workmanship our team applies to every one of our building projects,”
said Savage.
“This award is a true reflection of our commitment and ability to build affordable, architecturally-designed homes in
new communities.”
Savage describes the award-winning Dixon Road showhome as one of Generation Homes’ most functional and sustainable
properties due to its customised design and low maintenance and operational costs.
The showhome is based off the company’s popular Backler plan but was redesigned as a ‘Generation for Life’ property to meet the needs of the future homeowner no matter their
age, mobility or life stage. This includes improved features for accessibility, such as large hallways and doors, a
tiled no-step entry ensuite shower and exceptional indoor-outdoor flow.
Located on a corner site, the u-shaped plan is strategically positioned to the north to maximise the sun, natural
airflow and ventilation.
“The master bedroom and all of the home’s central living areas are fitted with single or double glazed ranch sliding
doors and it is extremely well insulated to reduce heating and cooling costs,” Savage said.
The energy efficient RibRaft® concrete flooring exceeds the insulation requirements specified by the New Zealand
Building Code.
The property promotes functionality and ease of living with three double storage cupboards, a separate laundry and
triple car garage. The extra garage space can be used as a rumpus room, DIY workshop or to store a boat.
The property features a grand entranceway with a 2.7 metre high ceiling that connects to an open plan kitchen, dining
