Local innovators celebrate milestone
This month, Rotorua-based Dubzz Digital Marketing will celebrate their fifth birthday. After starting from scratch at a kitchen table, the local business has now flourished to a team of seven working in a CBD office while servicing over 150 clients across New Zealand.
Director Rachel Warrender conceived of Dubzz after noting that many companies missed out on business opportunities by not utilising the online space. Without any local providers to offer the necessary services, Rachel got to work developing the online presence of a handful of Rotorua organisations. The Dubzz service portfolio began with social media training and management, and has now expanded to include online advertising, website development, improving search rankings and more.
Providing services with cross-industry relevance, Dubzz’s clients include businesses in tourism, retail, accommodation, trades, entertainment, hospitality, public service, business services, charity, property, sports administration and education industries. While most of these clients are based in Rotorua, Dubzz clients spread across New Zealand.
As a team of locals, Dubzz is passionate about Rotorua and sponsors various local charities with websites or online marketing assistance. They have committed to giving away a new website to one Rotorua charity each year. Rachel says, “We are actively involved in the Rotorua community through Rotary, and sponsoring charities with websites and social media management. We also take on Waiariki students and members of the local community for work experience and internships, including two Waiariki students who have gone onto full-time employment. This enables the growth of the local region and helps individuals along the way.”
Rachel adds, “It is fantastic to have a business that makes a positive contribution to other local businesses. It is thrilling to see our clients’ businesses grow using new media, tapping into new markets, and making their marketing spend go further. We open their eyes to the possibilities, making it easy for them to engage new technologies for the betterment of their business.”
“Part of our success has come from the high number of referrals from our loyal clients, and from our networks. This high rate of referrals confirms we are exceeding expectations, and seeing our clients refer friends and associates to us is extremely rewarding.”
In addition to the growth of the company, other highlights over the last five years include a strong showing at the 2015 Rotorua Chamber of Commerce Business Awards. Dubzz ranked as finalists in multiple categories, with Rachel taking home the award for Emerging Young Leader of the Year.
Dubzz are incredibly excited for the opportunities the next five years will present for both their industry and the Rotorua economy. They look forward to continuing to support both established and new businesses in leveraging the online space to reach their business goals.
