The Grand Finale is your chance to see the Low Carbon Challenge teams showcase their ventures. hear them pitch and present their funding campaigns, and celebrate another successful
Challenge. The Grand Finale evening brings Wellington's innovative leaders together, providing you an opportunity to
network and support the pitching teams.
The Low Carbon Challenge is an accelerator programme helping ventures in transport and waste minimisation scale up their
impact. It wants to change the way Wellingtonians live, move and grow.
Over the last two months, six teams have been involved in workshops to develop their business models, getting feedback
from industry experts, build collaborative partnerships from a network of mentors and validate their emissions reduction
impact.
Deloitte’s Ian Fay is an advisor in this year’s Challenge. He stresses the important role innovation plays in
sustainability and sees great potential among those teams involved.
“This year’s participants have structured their businesses and the customer experience to provide sustainable solutions
that make an impact that matters”, Fay says.
Mevo knows what is achievable in this space, Since participating in last year’s Challenge they’ve become New Zealand’s
first on demand electric car sharing service, partnering with motoring giants Audi along the way.
Founder Erik Zydervelt recognises that relationships go a long way to succeeding in green innovation, and recognises the
invaluable connections they made from the Low Carbon Challenge. “Insert quote here” he says.
A wide range of ventures are excelling in this year’s Challenge. From ethical alternatives to the high-waste fashion
industry, notebooks repurposed from business waste, community solutions to childrens’ wellbeing and more, the Grand
