DataCol Group extends their reach into the rural market with acquisition of pioneering water measurement company Watermetrics.
Christchurch, NZ. 1 October 2015.
Data collection and data integrator specialist business DataCol Group, today announced it had fully acquired Canterbury-based Watermetrics, a provider of integrated water flow monitoring, recording and analysis services.
“Watermetrics were pioneers in providing water measurement technology and services to the rural sector, have built a strong brand and significant customer base predominantly in the Canterbury region off the back of that,” says DataCol CEO Bruce Franks.
“Using data collection and measurement technology has become a critical tool for farmers in terms of enhancing productivity, reducing cost and complying with national regulations like water consents.
“Water metering has been one of the first frontiers in this digital revolution for farming businesses, but there are many more opportunities for technology to assist with farm management, whether it’s addressing farm dairy effluent or plugging real-time data into farm management plans.
“We are excited about the potential of extending that reach, and offer farming businesses a broader range of technology and services,” says Mr Franks.
DataCol already provides data collection and data integration services to the Rural, Commercial and Industrial sectors. With the combined DataCol and Watermetrics customer base, there will be over several thousand connections being monitored which can benefit from DataCol’s New Zealand and international experience in collecting and managing data across the utilities sector, says Mr Franks.
Mr Franks says it will be business as usual and DataCol will be looking to improve the levels of service Watermetrics have provided with all maintenance contracts and equipment warranties remaining in place.
