Yealands Wine Group claims Champion Grüner Veltliner at the New Zealand International Wine Awards
Yealands Wine Group (Yealands) has been recognized for the quality of their White wines with a Trophy at the prestigious
New Zealand International Wine Awards. The Marlborough based winemakers claimed the Champion Other White Wine Varieties
for their Yealands Estate Grüner Veltliner 2014.
It was an outstanding result across the entire Yealands Wine Group portfolio, with a trophy for the Yealands Estate
Grüner Veltliner and a gold medal for The Crossings Pinot Noir 2014. In total, Yealands received 35 medals, including
two gold and fifteen silver medals.
Yealands Wine Group Chief Winemaker, Tamra Kelly-Washington, was happy to hear the news. “Grüner Veltliner is a labour
of love for us, and a wine that we continue to see evolving each year in a positive way. To gain recognition in this way
is incredibly rewarding for both the vineyard and winery teams,” says Mrs. Kelly-Washington.
Comments from the judges were descriptive and evocative. Fragrant aromas evoke memories of spiced apples, quince and
