Massive Kickstart to Kiwi-born Grainfather in USA & Canada
Over $145,000 Pledged by Fans
It only took two weeks (halfway through their month-long (Feb-March) campaign) on Kickstarter for Kiwi company, Grainfather (parent company - Imake), to reach its $50,000 USD goal.
With two weeks still to go, they had to add almost double the amount of units available to continue the campaign through to the end. Ending on a high, they made almost three times the goal amount!
This campaign means the US and Canada will receive the Grainfather up to two years earlier than they would have without the extra funding found through the popular crowdfunding site - Kickstarter. The Grainfather is set to revolutionise homebrewing statewide!
Watching the campaign daily, nerves were high at Grainfather HQ in Albany, Auckland, but they were soon squashed when the dollars kept rising.
The Kiwi company, from humble beginnings of a small homebrew store in Petone, is now ready to take on arguably the largest brew market.
Grainfather had already worked through the US electrical compliance but this funding now means they can cover the following:
• Cost of warehousing and storage for initial warehousing setup and travel to the USA throughout the first year for quality checks and follow up.
• Cost of marketing and ensuring customers know about how to get one.
• Cost of app development - creating an app to make brewing with the Grainfather even easier. This will guide the brewer through the steps of brewing, sending alerts for the different stages all from their smartphone or tablet.
Having a Grainfather means homebrew made from scratch is now easy, quick, fun and delicious, but still cheaper than the commercial stuff.
The Grainfather is an all in one brewing unit allowing the homebrewer to start with crushed grain, then mash, sparge and cool, all in the one unit. It gives homebrewers the chance to really experiment, and gain control over their brewing ingredients and process. The options are limitless.
Backers will receive their rewards around June 2015 and they are all receiving their Grainfathers and extras at a special price lower than the already astoundingly low price it will retail for.
A product like this has been out of reach for the casual homebrewer due to price and availability, until now. Similar units retail for up to around $2-2.5k USD. The Grainfather will retail for $890 USD.
Excitingly, this versatile and affordable product is now, not far away!
