SKYCITY - John Mortensen Chief Operating Officer NZ

23 December 2014

SKYCITY announcement – John Mortensen Chief Operating Officer NZ

SKYCITY Auckland’s General Manager, John Mortensen, has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer New Zealand/GM SKYCITY Auckland, announced SKYCITY’s Chief Executive Nigel Morrison today.

The newly created role will see Mr Mortensen assume responsibility for SKYCITY’s Hamilton and Queenstown operations in addition to his current responsibility as General Manager at SKYCITY Auckland. Both the Queenstown and Hamilton GMs will report through to John.

Nigel Morrison says John has made a considerable impact on SkyCity’s Auckland business since he joined the team in June 2013, building a strong team culture, improving staff engagement, delivering results and providing strong leadership.

“It makes sense to consolidate all SKYCITY’s New Zealand operations under John’s leadership, building on the progress already being made and enabling efficiencies and synergies across all three locations in Auckland, Hamilton and Queenstown, to drive performance and results,” says Mr Morrison.

John has a long pedigree in the entertainment industry with in-depth experience in gaming operations and casino management. This includes roles at Federal Group in Tasmania where he held various positions including Group Director of Gaming and Entertainment, and prior to his appointment at SKYCITY, Chief Operating Officer.
