Simplifying the Holidays Act Should Be the Government's Top Employment Priority
Survey findings published today recommend that the Government focuses on simplifying the Holidays Act 2003. The findings are drawn from a survey of HR professionals conducted by law firm, Simpson Grierson. The firm asked respondents to rank the top three employment issues they would like the Government to focus on post-election.
Simpson Grierson partner and employment law expert Phillipa Muir comments:
“Earlier this year we surveyed our clients specifically on the issues of the Holidays Act 2003. The results of that survey clearly indicated that it is time for a more modern, user-friendly piece of legislation that is easy to interpret and apply. The results from our latest survey reinforce that it is time for change. The overwhelming majority (77%) of employer respondents say this should be the top priority."
The survey was carried out over a three week period before the general election on 20 September 2014. It draws on 116 responses from employer clients on the Simpson Grierson database.
