Haier Pulse’s Ameliaranne Wells Makes Silver Ferns Squad

The Haier Pulse’s new signing Ameliaranne Wells has been fast-tracked into the Silver Ferns, just weeks after declaring
her availability for New Zealand following her move across the Tasman. The 23-year old shooter from Queensland qualifies
for selection through her kiwi father, despite having played for the Australia U19 and U21 teams. She spent four seasons
at the Firebirds and was a member of the team which won the 2011 ANZ Championship.
Silver Ferns coach Waimarama Taumaunu has made no secret that she has been keeping an eye on Wells and called her in for
a closer look at the earliest opportunity – this week’s trials in Auckland. With regular shooter Maria Tutaia suffering
a season-ending injury to her left foot, Wells grabbed her chance and is in line to make her international debut during
next month's four-test Constellation Cup series with Australia, which will be followed by two games against England.
She joins the Haier Pulse quartet of Jodi Brown, Katrina Grant, Joline Henry and Liana Leota, who all retain their
places in the squad following their silver medals at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in August.
Haier Pulse new recruit Whitney Souness will also join the National Development Squad 2014/2015 accelerant tier.
The Silver Ferns play their first test against the Australian Diamonds in Invercargill on October 2.
