12 August 2014
The trend for New Zealand guest nights continued to rise in June, Statistics New Zealand said today.
"All trend series for guest nights rose in June," business indicators manager Neil Kelly said. "However, all seasonally adjusted series fell, following rises in April and May for most series."
In June 2014 (after removing seasonal variation):
• New Zealand guest nights fell 4.4 percent, after a rise of 2.3 percent in May.
• North Island guest nights fell 4.9 percent, and South Island guest nights fell 4.6 percent.
• Domestic guest nights fell 8.1 percent, and international guest nights fell 2.3 percent.
• Guest nights fell for all four accommodation types.
The Accommodation Survey records the number of guests staying in hotels, motels, backpacker accommodation, and holiday parks in New Zealand each month.
