New Heights for Ambassador Chef Newlands
2014 Beef + Lamb Ambassador Chef, Mikey Newlands, showcased an exclusive menu at Bracu Restaurant this evening as part of the Beef + Lamb New Zealand Ambassador Series.
The restaurant, found nestled in Auckland’s Simunovich Olive Estate, seated a fortunate 64 who indulged in a specially prepared five course degustation menu featuring some of New Zealand’s finest beef and lamb.
The Ambassador Series highlights the Ambassador Chef’s ability to cook top end beef and lamb dishes and acknowledge it within their community.
Selected from the 166 recipients of the 2014 Beef and Lamb Excellence Awards, the five chosen Ambassador Chefs represent some of the top performers amongst the Award holders.
“These events are a great opportunity to introduce people to Bracu. It was fantastic to see so many new faces enjoying the dishes we create – it’s what we love to do.
“I enjoy working with the team at Beef + Lamb New Zealand, as I am able to get out into the industry to share ideas and energy with other people, it’s not something I get to do at Bracu very often which is rewarding,” says Mikey.
Mikey is renowned for taking inspiration from his environment at Bracu and reflecting that in the style of dish he produces through incorporating the seasonal offerings from the Estate’s gardens and passionate local producers.
“Our aim tonight was to express what goes on around us, the ‘terrior’ of Bracu on the plate,” says Mikey.
Each year Beef and Lamb Excellence Awards are presented to restaurants nationwide who exhibit consistently high standards of beef and lamb cuisine.
