Taxpayers’ Union Support ‘Fair Tax for Savers' Campaign
30 JULY 2014
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Taxpayers’ Union is teaming up with Age Concern, Consumer NZ and theFinancial Services Council to support the Fair Tax for Savers campaign which launched this afternoon. Jordan Williams, Executive Director of the Taxpayers’ Union, says:
“This is a campaign calling on politicians to cut taxes on savings and we are proud to support it."
“For too long income from saving has been over taxed. All we’re asking for is taxes on savings to be brought into line with other income and a halt to taxing returns lost to inflation.”
“While politicians talk the talk about the importance of New Zealanders saving more, let’s hope they walk the walk and stop over-taxing KiwiSaver.”
The campaign includes inserting more than 120,000 post cards in print media for readers to complete and send to MPs. More information on the campaign is available from the Financial Services Council and at FairTaxforSavers.org.nz.
