Sport Wellington is on the move!
The Sport Wellington Sports House is moving and from Monday 28 July will be located at 223 Thorndon Quay, Wellington (a 12 minute walk from the Westpac Trust Stadium).
Sport Wellington’s head office has been located at Level 2, 113 Adelaide Road since 1999. The sector has seen a lot of changes over the past 15 years and Sport Wellington has adapted to these changes.
Sport Wellington Chief Executive Phil Gibbons believes that the move to the new location will further the organisations ability to evolve with the sporting sector. “The new location for Sport Wellington will allow for easier access for those that we work with and provide a greater profile for the organisation in our community. The new premises will allow for Sport Wellington to grow further our community of tenants by offering more members of the sport and active recreation sector the opportunity to be located alongside Sport Wellington and take advantage of the shared services and expertise on hand.”
Current tenants of Sport Wellington will also be moving to the new premises. This includes College Sport Wellington, Boxing New Zealand, Wellington Volleyball, Wellington Water polo and AFL New Zealand.
Gibbons adds that the Sports House will also provide opportunities to those sport and recreation organisations outside of the region. “If you are an NSO operating outside of Wellington, the new sports house will have the capability to offer you a work space in Wellington City while allowing easy access to the city and interaction with Sport Wellington staff – the people who are working alongside the sport and active recreation community in the greater Wellington region.”
The premises will continue to house the Community Sport (Sport Development, Young Persons), Active Communities, KiwiSport, Regional Development, Events and Support Services business units that make up Sport Wellington.
Sport Wellington also has an office and sports house located in the Wairarapa with similar tenancy and meeting room facilities available.
